An
examination of Ellen Gould White's brain. The woman founder of Seventh
Day Adventist must have been suffering from brain damage.

If
everyone of you will read the Holy Bible without being influenced by
any of your priests but by the Holy Spirit alone, all of you will become
Seventh-Day Adventists.

Isaiah 3:12
"O My people! Their oppressors are children,
And women rule over them.
O My people! Those who guide you lead you astray
And confuse the direction of your paths."
Ellen Gould White (born Harmon) (November 26, 1827 – July 16, 1915) was a prolific author and an American Christian pioneer. She, along with other Sabbatarian Adventist leaders, such as Joseph Bates and her husband James White, formed what is now known as the Seventh-day Adventist Church. (wikipedia)
There's your Ellen Gould White...
According to my friend who is a neurologist and my partner in practice who is a neurosurgeon, sometimes after a head injury a person may experience seizures and have visions and hallucinations. In the 18th century, the medical field wasn't as advanced and as knowledgeable as what we have today. Someone hit with a rock on the head like Ellen Gould White would be observed for any increases in ICP as well as for seizure episodes if it happened in this era. And any visions or hallucinations would be attributed to her head injury.

Yes, that might also be possible. But brother, as you impliedly say that Ellen Gould White is 'psychotic' because of the visions that God has given her, well, if you just use your observation (even neuroscience), 'psychotic' people are inconsistent as to their behavior and hallucinations. But if you have the chance to read the writings of Ellen White, there is consistency.
ReplyDeleteBut still, no witnesses were present. None of the Apostles or even their successors told her to establish a church.
DeleteBtw, any person has the capabilities of writing.
Hence, she's just like writing a novel.
