REFUTING A MANALISTA ON CONFESSION AND CALLING PRIESTS 'FATHER'

That Catholic priests, like you "Father" Abe, have the authority to forgive sins through the sacrament of confession, is a clever scheme of the deceivers. It is, in fact, the proof that the Catholic priests are the transgressors of Christ's commandment in Mat. 23:9, if we buy "Father" Abe's idea of that cited verse. Why? Referring to Mat. 23:9, Father Abe wrote,

"WHAT IS THE MEANING OF THE PROHIBITION THEN? THAT THE AUTHORITY OF GOD MUST NOT BE USURPED BY MEN AND THAT WE MUST ALL CONSIDER GOD AS THE HIGHEST AUTHORITY OF OUR LIFE BECAUSE HE IS OUR FATHER."


Isn't proclaiming yourself a "Father" in the sense that you are a "Father of souls", just like God, a daring and stubborn act of equality with God? And forgiving sins thru confession a usurpation of God's authority?

Did Christ give the Apostles the authority to forgive sins thru confession, the way Catholic priests do to forgive the sins of their members? No! What Christ gave to his Apostles was the authority to baptize for forgiveness of sins (Acts 2:38), not the authority to forgive sins thru confession, not the usurpation of God's authority. Only God can forgive the sins committed against Him by his people. The Catholic priests are usurping that authority. Hence, the Catholic priests are, as how "Father" Abe explains the meaning of the prohibition in Mat. 23:9, the ones who violated that prohibition.

Not to mention the fact that the Catholic clergy are parading in robes
arrayed like Christ, The Lamb of God, calling themselves "Father". Christ never dared call Himself "Father" the way wolves-in-sheep's-clothing do! The Pope, claiming to be the "Vicar of Christ", even went higher than Christ and the Apostles in this respect.
Never did the Apostles usurp God’s authority, nor did they strive to be puffed up and reach for God’s title. Only Satan did and his army of darkness who are trying to rob God of His glory and to bring Him down to their level!

Assuming, for the sake of argument, that your title “Father” is used in the same sense as how Paul the Apostle used it, can you please tell me: how did Paul become a father? Is it the same as your being a “Father”? In what way? In the same context, is David’s or Abraham’s fatherhood the same as yours?

There’s no argument that in the Bible there are a lot of human persons who were called “father”. But for sure they’re not the type of father whom Christ was referring to when He made the prohibition in Mat. 23:9; otherwise, Christ would have been contradicting the Bible. Therefore there’s no sense bringing those Biblical fathers into the argument since mentioning them in no way justifies your “Father” title which is ridiculously different from those of the Biblical characters.

You might insist on the sanity of your argument by claiming that your fatherhood is indeed the same as those of the biblical fathers you mentioned. Then you are left with the obligation to show us your proof of equality of your fatherhood with those whom you mentioned. The burden of proof is yours, “Father”. Please show them to us and I’ll try to examine the veracity or flimsiness of your claims.

The fact that your ministers cannot forgive sins is a proof that you are FAKE because you do not possess the spiritual powers and authorities handed on by Christ to the leaders of His Church through the Holy Spirit. It only goes to show that you do not have the presence of the Holy Spirit in your ministers. They are useless because they are fake, artificial, self-invented. That is why together with St. Paul our Catholic Ministers of the House of God - the priests can declare:

2 Corinthians 2:10 [KJV] "To whom ye forgive anything, I FORGIVE ALSO: for if I FORGAVE anything, to whom I FORGAVE IT, for your sakes FORGAVE I it IN THE PERSON OF CHRIST."

Ha, ha, ha... THAT'S IT! ST. PAUL FORGIVES IN THE PERSON OF CHRIST. The Apostles from Peter to John the Beloved forgave "In the Person of Christ." Because the Apostles are chosen and empowered by Christ. They are Ministers of Christ. And one of the authorities given to them is to forgive sins in the person of Christ. This is what we call THE APOSTOLIC MINISTRY OF RECONCILIATION:

IGLESIA NI CRISTO ITINURING AT TINAWAG NA AMA ANG KANILANG TAGAPAMAHALANG PANGKALAHATAN

Ang mga Katoliko ay may pag-galang sa mga pinuno ng kanilang Iglesia. Itinuturing nila ang mga namiminuno sa Iglesia kagaya ng mga pari at ng Obispo ng Roma bilang mga “ama.” Alinsunod ito sa halimbawang ibinigay ni Apostol Pablo na kung saan itinuturing niyang mga “anak” ang kanyang mga tagasunod at inihaharap niya ang kaniyang sarili sa kanila bilang isang “ama”:

“Hindi ko sinusulat ito para hiyain kayo. Pinapayuhan ko lang kayo bilang mga anak kong minamahal. Kasi, kahit magkaroon kayo ng sampung libong tagapagturo ukol kay Cristo, iisa lang ang inyong ama sa pananampalataya. Mga anak ko kayo sa pananampalataya kay Cristo Jesus, dahil ako ang nangaral sa inyo ng Magandang Balita” (1 Cor. 4:14-15, Ang Buhay na Salita).

Ang Buhay na Salita Biblia

Malinaw na si Apostol Pablo ay ama sa pananampalataya ng kanyang mga tagasunod na kanya namang inaring mga anak sa pananampalataya. Ganun din si Apostol Pedro. Ang turing niya kay Marcos na kanyang alagad ay bilang isang anak sa pananampalataya: “kinukumusta rin kayo ni Marcos, ang mahal kong anak sa pananampalataya” (1 Pedro 5:13, Magandang Balita Biblia). Kung anak sa pananampalataya ang turing ni Pedro kay Marcos, natural lamang na ama sa pananampalataya ang turing ni Marcos kay Pedro.

Ganyan na ganyan ang turing ng mga Katoliko sa mga pinuno ng kanilang Iglesia. Ang mga pari ay itinuturing naming ama sa pananampalataya sapagkat si Apostol Pablo ay nagpakilala bilang pari: “Ako’y itinalaga niya bilang pari ni Jesu-Cristo, at ginagampanan ko ang aking tungkulin bilang pari sa pagdadala ng Mabuting Balita mula sa Dios para sa mga hentil, at upang sila ay maging katanggap-tangap na handog, na pinabanal ng Espiritu Santo” (Roma 15:16, New Jerusalem Bible, sa pagkakaliwat ng may akda sa Filipino).[1]

Ngunit hindi lamang ang mga Katoliko ang may pagturing na “ama” sa pinuno ng Iglesia. Sa Iglesia ni Cristo (1914), si Felix Y. Manalo ay hindi lamang itinuturing na ama bagkus ay bilang isang “higit pa sa mapagmahal na ama.” Binabanggit sa Pasugo, ang opisyal na babasahin ng Iglesia ni Cristo (1914), ang ganito ukol kay Felix Manalo: “He was more than a loving father to us …” (Pasugo, May 1968, p. 37).

Ganun din ng mamatay si Eraño G. Manalo. Patungkol sa yumaong Pinunong Pangkalahatan ng Iglesia ni Cristo, sinabi ng isang artistang kaanib ng Iglesia ni Cristo na si Klaudia Koronel, “Itinuring ko siyang para kong tunay na ama.”[2]

Huwag ninyong tawaging inyong ama ang sinomang tao sa lupa (Mateo 23:9)

Gamit na gamit ng Iglesia ni Cristo ang Mateo 23:9 sa kanilang patutsada sa pagtawag ng mga Katoliko sa mga pari (at Papa) ng ama:

“At huwag ninyong tawaging inyong ama ang sinomang tao sa lupa: sapagka't iisa ang inyong ama, sa makatuwid baga'y siya na nasa langit” (Mateo 23:9, Ang Biblia).

Binabanggit sa talata na huwag tatawaging ama ang sinumang tao sa lupa. Ngunit, may pagkakataon ba na tinawag ng Iglesia ni Cristo na ama ang isang tao sa lupa?

Iglesia ni Cristo kinakausap ang patay

Noong mamatay si Eraño G. Manalo noong 2009, ang artistang si John Regala na isang Iglesia ni Cristo noong panahong iyon ay “Tatay Erdie” ang tawag sa nasirang Pinunong Pangkalahatan ng Iglesia ni Cristo. Ayon sa ulat ng Philippine Entertainment Portal:

“Sa ikalawang gabi ng burol, September 2, dumalaw ang character actor na si John Regala. May lungkot sa kanyang pananalita nang hingan ng pahayag ng PEP (Philippine Entertainment Portal) bilang pakikidalamhati sa mga naulila ng kung tawagin niya'y si "Tatay Erdy."

Ani John: "Sa pagpanaw ng Tatay Erdy, hindi maipaliwanag ang aking nararamdaman. Sobra akong nalulungkot sapagkat hahanap-hanapin ko ang pagmamahal at mga kabutihan na ipinadama at ginawa niya sa akin.

"Marami kaming happy moments ng Tatay Erdy noong malakas pa siya, ngunit masaya rin ako dahil nakapagpahinga na ang Tatay Erdy. Ano ang ibig sabihin ng “tatay”? Hindi ba “ama”? Ayon sa Wikipedia: “As a child you would refer to your parents as "Ama" (Tagalog formal for Father) or "Tatay" (Tagalog informal for Father).[4] Ano naman ang sinasabi sa Tagalog-Dictionary.Com?

BIBLICAL REASONS FOR CALLING VARIOUS PEOPLE ‘FATHER’

If the Protestant interpretation of Mt 23:9 is to be followed the entire GODHEAD SHALL BE DESTROYED!

1. THE FATHER ALMIGHTY Himself will be dishonored because He called people ‘father’. GOD THE FATHER IS GUILTY OF THE CATHOLIC CRIME.

Gen 12:1 He asked Abram to leave his father’s house.

Gen 17:5 He made Abraham father of many nations.

Gen 28:13 He called Abraham father of Jacob.

Ex 3:6 …I am the God of thy FATHER…

Ex 3:16 …say…The LORD God of your FATHERS…

Ex 20:12 HONOUR THY FATHER and thy mother… (Also, Dt 5:16)

Ex 22:17 If her FATHER utterly refuse to give her…

Ex 22:22 Ye shall not afflict any widow, or FATHERless.

Ex 40:15 …anoint them, as thou didst their FATHER…

Lev 18 Yahweh used ‘father’ for people 9 times.

Lev 19:3 Ye shall fear every man his… FATHER…

Jer 7: 7, 14, 18, 22, 25-26 Yahweh called people ‘fathers’ 6 times.

2. JESUS TOO WILL BE GUILTY OF THE CATHOLIC CRIME; He is violating His own word.

3. THE HOLY SPIRIT SHALL BE GUILTY TOO OF THE CRIME because people prophesied by His inspiration and called people ‘father’.

(a) Lk 1: 67 Zechariah was FILLED with the HOLY SPIRIT and later he said:

Lk 1:72-73 ‘To perform the mercy promised to OUR FATHERS, and to remember his holy covenant. The oath which he sware to OUR FATHER Abraham.

(b) Acts 7: 55 referred to St. Stephen as ‘full of the Holy Spirit’ and yet he called people in that same chapter ‘FATHER’ a record of 18 times. If calling people ‘father’ is wrong it presupposed that the Paraclete misled the proto-martyr.

(c) Since the Letter to the Hebrews bear no human authorship the full responsibility goes to the Holy Spirit who inspired it.

Heb 1:1 God who at sundry times and in divers manners spake in time past unto the FATHERS by the prophets…

Heb 3:9 When your FATHERS tempted me, proved me, and saw my works for forty years.

Heb 7:3 [Melchizedek] Without FATHER, without mother…

Heb 7:10 For he [Levi] was yet in the loins of his FATHER, when Melchizedek met him [Abraham].

5. JOSEPH THE DREAMER IS ALSO GUILTY

Gen 50:5 My FATHER made me swear…Now therefore let me go, I pray thee [pharaoh], and bury my FATHER…

6. THE BENEVOLENT PHARAOH [Master of Joseph the Dreamer] IS GUILTY

7. MOSES IS GUILTY

10. KING SOLOMON IS GUILTY

2 Chron 6:4,7-8,10,15-16 Solomon delivered this ‘sacrilegious’ speech during the completion of the Temple. Imagine he called David ‘my father’ 6 times. 2 Chron 6:25,31,38 Solomon called other people ‘fathers’ 3 times. N.B.: In 2 Chron 7:1 the Sacred Scripture states that Yahweh responded with FIRE FROM HEAVEN , but not out of anger in order to kill Solomon for calling people ‘father’ right inside the sacred Temple. Instead, the fire consumed the offerings as a sign of divine acceptance. Moreover, the glory of the Lord (Shekinah) filled the house. If Solomon committed a sin against the Holy Name of Yahweh by calling others as ‘father’ why did God accept his sacrifice? See Prov 1: 8/ 4: 1,3/ 13:1/ 17:6,21/ 19:13-14,26

Bear in mind that The Book of Isaiah is a prophetic book. It is particularly a prophesy concerning the coming of the Messiah and His Kingdom. The above chapter (Is 22) if will be read completely will lead us to Mt 16: 18-19.

Like Eliakim, St. Peter received from Jesus the Keys of the Kingdom of Heaven, thus making him the Prime Minister of the Kingdom with the power to bind and to loose above any other with the exception of the King Himself.

One of the title given to the Holder of the Keys is that he shall be called FATHER. The Pope, as successor of Peter, is called HOLY FATHER... With the adjective ‘Holy’ because he is the Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Heaven not just of the Davidic kingdom.

BASED ON THE NUMEROUS PASSAGES PRESENTED ABOVE THESE CLASSES OF PEOPLE CAN BE CALLED ‘FATHER’:

• Biological Father • Patriarchs • Ancestors • Kings (as David did to Saul, 1 Sam 24:11, Isaiah 49:23) • Government Leaders (e.g., Eliakim, the Royal Steward – Is 22: 21, 23-24) • PETER & his SUCCESSORS (The Keeper of the Keys) Mt16: 18-19 & Is 22: 21, 23-24 • APOSTLES & BISHOPS (1 Cor 4:14–16/ 1 Cor 4:14–16/ Phil 2:22) • PRESBYTERS AND PRIESTS (Judges 17:9-10/ 1 Tim 5:1)

N.B. The Catholic word ‘priest’ was a shortened version of the Presbyter. The Merriam-Webster Dictionary provides the etymology [ME preist, fr. OE preost, ultim. fr. LL presbyter elder, priest, fr. Gk presbyteros, fr. compar. of presbys old man, elder].
